Course programme

- 12 bar tunes of the challenging sort e.g. "Straight, no chaser" (Monk)
- blues scale "licks"
- creating and playing strong basslines
- right-hand improvisation technique.

Each player will be at a digital piano, the aim is to practise together as much as possible. The tutor will set exercises, and you will be reading music samples and chord symbols. Some work by ear only. Please bring manuscript, pencil, and an audio recording device (optional).

Additional information

Pop piano or jazz piano study. You may also be interested in Contemporary Music Ensemble, Jazz Ensembles, and general musicianship classes.
