Course programme

Certain building professions require their practitioners to undertake regular training/lectures to keep them abreast of latest developments and refresh their knowledge. Termed 'continous professional development' or 'CPD', Mike Wye & Associates Ltd have often been asked if we would provide such training in addition to the practical courses we have run for many years.

We have recently undertaken major building works to our premises that have enabled us to include a new seminar room. We are therefore, delighted to announce that we have now introduced a programme of CPD training that is completely free of charge.

CPD1 - An introduction to building conservation includes the use and specification of building limes and control of dampness. It is specifically aimed at those people dealing with a quarter of the UK buildings that are of traditional solid wall construction and are in need of special consideration when specifying materials and methods. These buildings number perhaps 4 million and include listed buildings that may result in a criminal record if work and permissions are not carried out correctly.

CPD2 - An introduction to natural insulation and paints is also applicable to traditional buildings but is also aimed at eco new builds and refurbs. This will be very important with the Government driven requirement to reduce our carbon use through such tools as 'Energy Performance Certificates. This programme offers suggestions to ways that older buildings may be improved without causing problems to the building. There are many more people contacting us these days with health issues that require the use of these natural products, these options are also covered.
