Entry requirements:
You do not need to have studied GCSE Business Studies previously.

Course assessment:
The course is assessed wholly through coursework and is designed for progression to the BTEC National Diploma or Certificate, or employment. The course is equivalent to 4 GCSE s at Grades A* to C and is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction upon completion.

What can this course offer me?
A BTEC First in Business is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
The course is assessed wholly though coursework, with the majority of tasks set by teachers and some by Edexcel. This is different from other business courses where some or all of the assessment is through exams.

What will I learn?
The content of the subject is extremely relevant, up to date and vital to all those with an interest in how organisations operate. The subject is one of only a few "live" subjects available- with fresh examples of both good (and poor!) practice emerging from the news almost daily. Teaching methods range from role plays and simulations through traditional to much independent and group work. There will be liaison with employers and links with company based/workplace training programmes.
All department staff incorporate ICT into learning and teaching at every opportunity, primarily through the use of interactive whiteboards.

What Makes a good Business student?
We're looking for a keen and enthusiastic approach to learning, with a willingness to contribute to active based lessons.

Business combines well wit any subject, but those choosing BTEC First in Business will find this course will make up the main bulk of their study time at KGV.
