About this course

You are expected to have a good standard of literacy and communication skills. You are expected to have:- 2 GCSE grades E, one of which must be English or other equivalent qualifications. A suitable Reference. Evidence of working at level 1 in Literacy and entry 3 in Numeracy. A current enhanced CRB check. A successful interview.

Course Content:
You will study the following. Human Growth and Development; Care of Children; Practical Activities; Health and Safety; Personal Development; Orientation to Work; Nutrition; IT; Numeracy; Literacy; Tutorial Support.

If you're looking to start a career in childcare then this level 1 course would be the ideal place to start. Previous child care experience is useful but not essential. The course is designed to help students achieve the standard required for progression onto other childcare courses. The course involves both practical and classroom based skills and English and Maths skills that you will need for a career working with children 0 - 16yrs

Progression:
Although progression is not automatic, successful students have progressed on to other appropriate higher level Childcare courses such as the CACHE Level 2 in Childcare and Education.
