Course information:
CACHE Level 3 Introduction to Childcare Practice


Course content:
The course has been designed as a form of induction to your role as a registered childminder or home based childcarer.
During the course you will explore topics;-
'starting a childcare business'
establishing routines for the day
managing children's behaviour.

Course structure:
This is a 6 week course with an information week at the beginning. It is a rolling programme, when one course finishes the next one begins and is held at both the Hebburn and South Shields sites.

Assessment procedure:
This qualification is validated by CACHE and has been developed by the National Childminding Association. Assessment is by multichoice question paper (set as an exam)

Entry requirements:
This scheme is designed for mature students who work in a domestic setting. Minimum entry age is 18 years.

Qualifications achieved:
DHC Unit 1 - 1CP

Progression opportunities:
After completing this unit you may wish to complete the other four units to achieve the full award.

Free study and financial support:
Many part-time students at South Tyneside College do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, depending on the course and the number of hours a week you study, you may be eligible for an Adult Learners†Grant.
