Cake Decorating Level 2
Course Aims:
To learn to decorate cakes using a variety of mediums and techniques.
Course Content:
Following on from level 1 this is a Royal Icing course that includes some modelling and with more advanced techniques includes sugar flowers and lace work.
Progression:
There are a variety of part-time and full-time courses offered within the College.
Awarding Body:
NCFE
Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria.

Other Costs:
Learners must provide their own materials.
Full details will be given by the course Tutor on enrolment.
There is an estimated overall cost to the student of 70 for equipment/ materials throughout the year for cake decorating.This will be payable by the student as the weeks progress according to planned activities.
Additional cake bases may also be required.
Duration:
Two hours per week for 30 weeks.
