About this course

There are no formal entry qualifications for the course however students must have literacy skills and comply with college policies including Equlity and Diversity. Also students who have completed the Prepartion for working with young peoples 10 week programe can use this as a progression into youth work.

Who is the programme for? The programme is aimed at anyone who is over 16 and is interested in working with young people either in a paid or voluntary capacity and can undertake a minimum of 40 hours in a setting working with young people as well as attendance for 3 hours per week for 24 weeks at College.

What will I study? Six mandatory units as follows: A introduction to the Youth Sector, Safe working Pracitce for Youth Work, Effective Team work in Youth work, Working with young people in the local environment Planning and implmentation and Evaluation of Youth Work in the local environment and Self Assessment for Youth Work.

Entry to the Programme?

How is it assessed? The programme is continually assesed. You will keep a refective journal of sessions undertaken and you will also undertake assginments that relate theroty to practice.

Future prospects? Successful completion of the programme could lead to progression onto the the City and Guilds VRQ level 2 in Youth Work.

When will the programme start? Jan 2008

How long will it take? 24 weeks 3 hours per week college 40 hours in practice.
