You need 4 GCSEs (grade D-G) and a desire to work in this area, plus a commitment to appropriate behavioural standards. All students will be interviewed.

What will you be learning?
This qualification prepares you to work in a supervised capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments and has been designed to provide the knowledge and understanding that support competent practice.
The course includes 6 mandatory units: An introduction to working with children; the developing child; safe, healthy and nurturing environments for children; children and play; communication and professional skills within child care and education; the child care practitioner in the workplace; 1 additional unit and practical training focusing on the age range 1 year to 7 years 11 months although some work experience covering the age range 8-16 is permitted.
You will be assessed by tests, assessment tasks and a final exampaper.
What happens when you have finished?
You can go onto the Level 3 CACHE qualification.
