Course Level 2

Description
This modular course is designed for those wishing to gain skills needed for childcare in schools and nurseries. All course modules are linked with NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education. Placement and College attendance will be 3 days a week in college, 2 days a week in placement.

Course Length
1 year (full time) includes practical experience in a childcare setting.

What will I study?
Core units
1. An introduction to working with Children
2. The developing Child
3. Safe, Healthy & Nuturing Environment for Children
4. Children ad Play
5. Communication and Professional Skills with Child Care & Education
6. The Child care practitioner in the workplace (practical unit).

Plus one optional unit

8. Play activity for children from birth to age 16 years.



How will I learn?
The units will be taught in College using a range of methods including interactive on-line exercises. All learning materials are available on-line. The Workplace Supervisor and course tutor will support the training in the placement.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be in the form of written assignments, assessment in the workplace, a multiple choice paper, a seen care study and a short answer paper at the end of the course.

Where could it lead?
Successful completion of the course will give you a recognised qualification for work with children in day nursaries, schools or in private homes as Nannies. You may go on to study for the NVQ Level 2 Childcare and Education or the Diploma in Nursery Nursing (NNEB).
