This is a two year course equivalent to three A Levels. There are 18 units for which you will be learning vocationally relevant skills in areas such as programming, web site design, digital graphics, spreadsheets, PC configuration, networks and databases.

COURSE OUTLINE
A two year Advanced Level course, leading to a professional childcare qualification. In this award students can achieve either an Award/Certificate or the Full Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. It is expected that students who register for this course will progress through the levels and will gain the full Diploma. The qualification prepares you to work unsupervised or in a supervisory position with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of children's services. For the Full Diploma students must achieve Units 1-9 plus 3 optional Units. Throughout the qualification students are expected to participate in professional practice in a variety of settings in order to apply theory to practice. Students will be in college three days and at a placement for two days. Students must successfully prove that they are professionally competent in caring for young children by achieving a Pass in their Practice Evidence Records and Professional Development Profiles and Diary.
Units include:
* Development from Conception to 16 years
* Keeping Children Safe Students will be assessed through a range of short answer papers, multiple choice questions, portfolio tasks, assessment tasks, and case studies and will be Graded A-E, with a final overall grade which will carry a maximum of 360 UCAS points. A high proportion of our students enter Higher Education to follow Early Childhood studies, Nursing or Teaching.

Assessment: The assessment is based 100% on coursework. You will be producing assignments through which you will demonstrate the practical ICT skills and theoretical knowledge for each unit.
