Summary:
NVQs are nationally recognised awards. The award enables a candidate to prove competence for the work they already do in their settings. At Level 2 you are likely to be working under the supervision of an experienced and qualified professional. The course is designed for those working in early years occupations such as nursery workers, classroom assistants, playgroup workers, community-based services, full day care and childminder
Course Length:
Approximately one year. Start dates in September, January and April, with further dates available (subject to demand).
Entry Requirements:
Current work (employed or voluntary) for a minimum of 2 sessions a week for at least a term, within a relevant childcare setting.
Assessment:
You will be allocated 24 hours of assessment time and will be supported by an allocated assessor during the length of your qualification. NVQ assessors will observe your achievements and skills in your workplace and you will collect a portfolio of evidence for assessment. Attendance is flexible to meet your individual needs. More information will be available at induction.
Academic Progression:
On completion of the course you can progress to the NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care Learning and Development, NVQ level 4 and then higher education.
Career Progression:
On completion of the course you can progress towards roles with responsibilities, e.g. Room Leader, Deputy, Supervisor.
