Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

This qualification is designed for people involved in food preparation, cooking and handling.

The Course programme

During the day, the following topics will be covered:

  • Legislation
  • Food safety hazards
  • Temperature control
  • Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
  • Cooking, hot holding and reheating
  • Food handling
  • Principles of safe food storage
  • Cleaning
  • Food premises and equipment

No prior food safety knowledge is required.

Assessment

At the end of the day, candidates will take a short assessment of 30 multiple choice questions, with a pass mark of 20. Throughout the course, example questions will be discussed.
