Details

This is a two day training and assessment course for up to 8 candidates. This course is for senior experienced engineers only who feel that they need a review of the 2079 course content prior to undertaking the assessment. Engineers will need to be competent at brazing prior to coming on this course.

Day OneIs taken up with a review of the 2079 course content

Day Two is taken up with up to 4hr practical assessments and up to 1hr 20 min closed book online GOLA exam

The course is held at our Training Centre in Doncaster.

Candidates will be issued with a full set of City & Guilds 2079 study notes at the start of the course.

For candidates requiring either the 2 day course or 1 day assessment only day, a Techtrain Enrolment Form will have to be fully completed (including the signed statement) and returned at the same time as the Booking Form, as candidates have to be Registered and Scheduled for their assessment and on line exam with City and Guilds before they arrive.

Candidates will be issued with a full set of study notes and practical assignment folders at the start of the course.

Successful candidates will be qualified to undertake leak checking, recovery, installation, service and maintenance of equipment.

Learning Outcomes

There are nine learning outcomes from this course. The candidate will be able to:

  1. Identify basic systems, terms, principles, units and how these relate to theory and thermodynamics of vapour compression cycles and refrigerants
  2. Identify the causes and effects of global warming and climate change
  3. Identify causes and effects of ozone depletion
  4. Identify stationary refrigerant, air conditioning and heat-pump system components, functions and leakage risk
  5. Identify the hazards and safe working practices for the installation, commissioning and handling of refrigerants
  6. Fabricate and examine pipework
  7. Undertake pressure testing, evacuation and record completion
  8. Undertake refrigerant charging, leak checking and record keeping
  9. Undertake recovery of refrigerant and oil and prepare for disposal.
