Course programme
The 14-week CCN1 and Met 1 course is presented to ensure that candidates are given all the knowledge they need to take and successfully complete their assessments, enabling them to work in the meter exchange industry.
The CCN1 training is split into 15 Core Competencies, which are assessed by both practical and theoretical assessment. (See below).
Candidates will create their own portfolios to assist them with their studies, as well as having access to comprehensive reference materials, including British Standards, Gas Installation and Use Regulations, etc.
As well as Core Gas Safety, the course will also include working towards one appliance assessment. At the moment this is MET1, which qualifies the successful candidate to work on Domestic Gas Meters. During the 14 weeks, emphasis is placed on meter fitting, as this is the first rung on the gas ladder. There are thousands of meters to be changed across the UK at any given time with the fitter typically paid £9 per meter. Please be aware, however, that practical gas experience is required before the exams can be taken.
Training will take place over five days each week, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm for 14 weeks.
Prior to the course starting, interested applicants will be invited to a short presentation where more details will be given and questions can be asked.
