About this course

You will need to read fairly fluently and be able to write a paragraph independently with few errors. At the interview, a tutor will help you to decide which class you should join. You will be asked to do a number of reading and writing exercises and these will help us find the appropriate class for you.

What will I learn?
This course will particularly suit those who can read fairly fluently but wish to improve their life skills as well as their communication skills, e.g. form filling, map reading, using timetables, how to write a formal letter, how to take notes and how to follow instructions, etc. It covers a wide range of communication skills including reading for information and formal and personal writing, speaking and listening, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

This course is taught in a classroom using varied teaching and learning techniques. You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions and practical activities.

You will take exams at the end of the year.
