Aim The Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the test(s) are based on the learner showing that they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirement of the qualification.
Content Units include:
· Handling and storing resources
· Contributing to working platforms
· Preparing materials for use
· Using components and materials.

Assessment methods
These will consist of individual multi-choice tests and a summative end exam which again will be multi-choice. Practical skills will be assessed on a continual basis with a final test piece set by CAA.

Progression/career opportunities
Progression routes include NVQ Level 2 Trowel Occupations or Level 2 Diploma in Construction Skills Brickwork.

Extra information All students will be required to purchase appropriate personal protective equipment including overalls and boots. There is a £60 fee on all construction courses to cover the cost of your equipment including text books, files, pens, pencils, scale ruler, tape measure etc. to be paid at enrolment.

Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
