Counselling Skills Taster - Beginners

Your Course
This taster workshop offers an insight into the use of counselling skills as part of a helping activity and is aimed primarily at students with no experience, who are considering counselling skills training but who may not be sure whether it is appropriate for them. It provides an opportunity to experience practical skills exercises and small group work; and to reflect upon the inter-personal aspects of this kind of communication.
The Introduction to Counselling Skills (non-assessed) or the Intermediate Certificate in Counselling Skills (AQA) courses will be available as your next step. The college offers an integrated part-time professional counselling training programme with each stage giving an opportunity to achieve a vocational award. Course information and an opportunity to enrol on the above courses are provided at the end of the workshop if interested in further training.
For those not wanting to train as a professional counsellor or acquire vocational qualifications, the above two courses also provide an opportunity to enhance personal communication skills, increase self awareness and develop the core conditions necessary for creating effective relationships at home and at work. All courses and tutors operate in accordance with the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP (2002) or an equivalent professional body.
