About this course
Candidates should have a relevant Level 3 or evidence of previous substantial counselling experience/knowledge (at least 150 hours). Minimum entry age is 25 years. All applicants are interviewed.

What will you be learning?
This course combines classroom tuition with practice.
You will study: Professional and organisational issues in counselling; counselling in a diverse society; counselling theory; advanced counselling skills; self-awareness for counsellors; counselling specialisms along with a counselling placement. In the second year you will need to obtain a work placement where you will work as a trainee counsellor in a counselling placement agency and complete a minimum of 100 hours supervised counselling practice. You will be required to be in personal therapy for a minimum of 40 hours over the two years of the course.
