Hear from one of our students about studying Early Childhood at Liverpool Hope.
The early experience of children in today’s society is crucial to their future life experience. This truth has become a reality of clear significance for those involved in a whole range of aspects of life, including politicians, policy makers, educationalists, psychologists and sociologists. Thus early childhood is receiving significantly increased attention due to its importance for securing lifelong learning and development. The widening gap nationally and internationally between advantaged and disadvantaged children clearly emphasises the implications of supporting children and their families in their early years.
The Early Childhood programme at Liverpool Hope University allows you to study Early Childhood as a complete subject. It also includes a compulsory placement that will enable you to enhance your understanding of course themes and demonstrate your abilities to work in a professional context.
The programme is taught by academics from a wide variety of backgrounds, including Sociology, Education, Health and Psychology. The teaching team are all actively involved in research and have published in their specialist fields. They are all members of the thriving Liverpool Hope Childhood Research Forum and contribute to a range of research conferences both nationally and internationally. This experience provides an informed and supportive learning environment for the student characterised by depth and challenge.
Samantha Thorley graduated from the Early Childhood programme with an Upper Second Class Honours Degree. Samantha says "I was incredibly worried about coming to University and how I would cope on the Early Childhood programme but all my worries were taken away by the outstanding tutors. I really felt that they were there for me whenever I needed help or advice but they also taught me how to further my independence when tackling an assessment. My...
