- This qualification is aimed at individuals who want to start a career in food production and cooking, and it is an ideal opportunity to get hands on experience whilst training as it is done inside the workplace.

- The qualification is aimed at chefs and cooks who may be cooking and reheating food that is brought in and that requires little or no preparation. This could be in more mainstream restaurants or in some parts of the public sector catering.

About this course

Intermediate Apprentices will work in roles such as:
- Kitchen Assistants
- Cooks and Chefs in large volume
- Fine dining/casual dining settings
- A range of cuisines (e.g. craft, Asian and Oriental Cuisine)

There are no formal qualifications required to complete this course as all training is provided.

Course programme

To achieve the full qualification, learners must attain a minimum of 40 credits.

- All 10 credits must be achieved from the mandatory units in Group A
- 16 credits must be attained from Group B
- 14 credits must be attained from Group C

The Mandatory Units (Group A):

- Unit 1 – Maintain Food Safety When Storing, Preparing and Cooking Food
- Unit 2 – Working Effectively as Part of a Hospitality Team
- Unit 3 – Maintenance of a Safe, Hygienic and Secure Working Environment
