About this course
It is recommended that candidates have achieved a minimum of two GCSE's at grades C or above in Maths, Science or English based subjects or an equivalent qualification or suitable industrial experience. Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment. Candidates must be in current employment in a relevant, Electrical Installation environment

One day per week is the minimum requirement to support the Technical Certificate over a three year period working to achieve the level 2 in years one and two then level 3 in the third year. Assessment for the NVQ is required within a workplace situation,

Content
This training will develop practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed so that they meet National Standards at NVQ level 3, providing opportunity to apply practical skills needed with the trade area covering such aspects as, health and safety, electrical supply systems, protection and earthing, function of electrical systems and components, safe installation practices, tools, equipment and instrumentation for inspection testing and commissioning, fault diagnosis and rectification and principles of electrotechnology.
Assessment
Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ 3, producing a portfolio of evidence demonstrating competent applications within this industry.
Progression Once complete candidates can progress onto a HNC/D in Electrical Engineering Framework
- Technical Certificate - This requires both the level 2 and level 3 City and Guilds 2330 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology to be completed
- Key Skills - Application of Number Level 2, Communication Level 2 and Information Technology Level 1
