What will I learn?

The engineering sector has a long tradition of offering apprenticeship frameworks as a means of meeting the skills requirements for its sector The framework has kept pace with technological change within each of the subsectors and remains highly relevant to their skills training needs The framework has been designed to address the skills gaps and shortages identified above, and address the issue of an ageing workforce, by attracting young people into the engineering industry and providing them with the skills, knowledge and experience which employers are seeking In addition the Apprenticeship provides a progression route that the existing workforce can use to up-skill themselves to meet the technical, economic and environmental changes

How will I be assessed?

The qualification is assessed by:

  • Portfolio of assessment
  • Verbal/written questioning
  • Witness testimony
  • Assessor observations

Performance evidence must be the main form of evidence gathered In order to demonstrate consistent competent performance for a unit, a minimum of three different examples of performance of the unit activity will be required

What may it lead to?

The completion of this qualification provides a base for progression to Level 3 qualifications You can go on and study the Advanced Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding

Entry Requirements

To enrol you need to be aged 16 and over and we require you to have at least 2 GCSEs grade C or above in preferably Maths and English
