Entry requirements For 2017 entry onwards: applicants will require 96 UCAS points at A level or level 3 equivalent or an Access to HE Diploma. Additionally applicants will be expected to have a minimum grade C in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). However, in line with the widening participation brief and lifelong learning strategy, the Institute will also encourage applications from non-traditional learners who lack formal academic qualifications. All such applicants will be set an appropriate piece of work and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience. In all instances applicants will be required to attend for an interview. Applicants may be admitted with credit for prior certificated learning (APcL) or work/life experience or other uncertificated learning (APeL). Any career where food manufacturing management is a key component of a company should be available and suitable for a student who has successfully completed this Foundation Degree. The is a work related qualifications which gives graduates the opportunity to further develop their career aspirations in technical, quality, production, new product development management etc. Programme Benefits Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one within the Food Manufacturing sector. Some graduates will progress on to a final year of study in order to complete a BSc (Hon) Degree in this discipline. Graduates will be able to pursue a wide range of roles within the Food Manufacturing sector such as Production, Technical, Quality, New Product Development and Operational Management roles within the Food Manufacturing sectors. Graduates are strongly placed to progress throughout the industry to senior management level positions. Learning & Teaching Methods Methods of learning and teaching are designed to support students in becoming active members of a learning community. Students will be expected to work together in an informal environment as well as in formal classes where a culture of dignity, courtesy and mutual respect with staff and their peers is essential. A variety of methods will be used such as lectures and discussions, case studies, visits and guest speakers, group activities.
