- This course is for learners of all ages, designed to bridge the gap between supported learning and working in a commercial environment, it can be a stepping stone towards our Professional Cookery & Hospitality Level 1 Diploma
- The course provides a high level of supported learning tailored towards your individual needs and you will develop a wide range of personal, inter-personal and work-related skills learnt through the context of hospitality and catering
This course offers you the opportunity to:
- Gain a real insight into the hospitality industry
- Visits to different types of catering establishments including hotels, restaurants, sports arenas, cafés and others and see the professional at work
- Learn by professional demonstration and hands-on practice
- Develop your practical skills in the College’s new training kitchen and Brasserie Restaurant where you will gain the basic hospitality skills required in the workplace
- Build up your confidence and self-esteem during teamwork tasks
- How front of house works effectively alongside a professional kitchen
- Mostly ‘hands on’ practical work, developing your chopping and slicing skills with kitchen knives, using specialist utensils and learning about equipment in a modern kitchen
- Preparation and cooking of food for sale in the College’s Deli Shop with the chance to work in the College’s Brasserie Restaurant - a busy restaurant style service with great food and you will also have the opportunity to dine there too
- Food and beverage skills, which for some learners, may be their eventual career pathway
- Employability and personal development skills which will help you with dealing with daily problems, developing yourself and preparing for work
- Essential Skills for Progression in English and Maths to support your basic education and career development
