Course programme
This course is designed for those working with children and is in line with the requirements of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and the Childminding Association guidelines.
The course duration is twelve hours and can be held over two days or by arrangement in the evenings. The course is held in an open and relaxed atmosphere which gives the students the opportunity to relax and become confident with their skills and includes both theory and practical sessions.

- Regulations, recording and reporting of Incidents
- First aid priorities
- First Aid kits
- Managing incidents
- CPR protocols for adults, children and infants
- Anaphylaxis
- Recognition of meningitis and sickle cell disease
- Asthma
- Eye and ear injuries
- Control of bleeding
- Burns and scalds
- Poisons
- Head injuries
Assessment is by continuous assessment by the tutor. Delegates who are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years.
