Hospitality, Sport, Leisure and Public Services - Leisure and Travel
First Diploma in Travel and Tourism(2010/2011)
Study Method:
Attendance at college is required on three days per week for one year. In addition to formal classroom sessions, there are assignments, projects, discussion groups and private study. Students also undertake domestic study trips.
All students will study six units and then there will be opportunities to gain other qualifications whilst on the course.

Duration :One year - three days per week
Who the Course is For:
Applications are welcome from students who wish to acquire an initial qualification designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors within the travel and Tourism industry.

Assessment:
Written and practical assignments are continuously assessed during the course.
Course Leads To:
The qualification will prepare students for employment; provide career opportunities for those already in work and also progression onto higher level qualifications such as our BTEC National Diploma in Travel & Tourism.
Entry Requirements:
4 GCSE passes at D or E grades or successful completion of Leisure & Tourism Introductory course.

The BTEC Firsts in Travel and Tourism have been developed in the travel and tourism sector to focus on:
- education and training for travel and tourism employees
- providing opportunities for travel and tourism employees to
achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally specific
qualification
- providing opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised
vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the travel
and tourism sector or to progress to higher vocational qualifications
such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National in Travel and Tourism
or the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National in Airline and Airport Operations
- providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and
techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful
performance in working life.
