First Diplomas: Business

Why study BTEC First Diploma in Business?
This is a practical course which will give you the opportunityto complete assignments and activities based on realistic situations linked to working in a variety of businesses. It will give you a good feel for what it will be like to be at work as well as developing your communication, number, IT, time management and teamwork skills. You will be assessed on the assignment work that you undertake during the year and will be given an overall grade at the end of the year. There are no formal exams.

What do I study?

You will study six units- three core units and three specialist units:
The core units are:

- Developing Customer Relations
- Investigating Financial Control
The core units give you a wide ranging introduction to the way businesses operate and the things that are important to their success. This is essential knowledge for those who want to be successful in the work environment. The specialist units will be chosen from:
- Business Communication
- People in Organisations
- Providing Business and Administration Support
- Personal Selling
- Doing Business Online
- Exploring Business Enterprise
- Starting a Small Business

Where does the BTEC First Diploma in Business take me?
When you have completed the course, you may move on to a level 3 course such as the BTEC National Diploma in Business or you can seek employment in the business field.
