About this course

Learners need to be working at entry level 3 or above for literacy skills but we welcome learners who can demonstrate relevant understanding of spoken and written English.



Learners in receipt of JSA / ESA or Universal Credit can asked to be referred by their JCP Work Coach for this programme.

Course programme

Year 1

While studying for the award, you will learn important steps to take in food preparation and handling in order to keep customers safe. Specifically, you will gain knowledge and understanding in:

• How individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety
• the importance of keeping the food handler clean and hygienic
• the importance of keeping the work areas clean and hygienic
• the importance of keeping food safe.

Additional information

This qualification is assessed by an online multiple choice examination consisting of 30 questions. Learners need to get 21 or more correct answers to achieve this award.
