This is a specialist, work-related course aimed at those who wish to work in the sector or who are interested in a practical qualification in addition to class-based study.

What does the course involve?
Highly practical in nature, the course the course involves a range of work including surveys, fieldwork, land-based skills and environmental studies.

Students study a number of units covering different aspects of working in our environment, with the option to specialise in a principal subject area. Work placements offer experiences as diverse as organic production or forestry.

What will I study?
Units include: Soil science, woodland habitat management, the ecology of trees and forest recreation.

What are the entry requirements for Forestry and Woodland Management National Award L3?

What sort of equipment will I need to buy?
You will need to provide your own outdoor clothing (including steel toe-capped boots). Hiking clothes, army surplus or equivalent are ideal, and a kit bag is extremely useful.
