Who is this course for?
The Foundation Programme is for overseas, non-EU students whose high school qualifications are not recognised for direct entry to the degree programme at City University, London.
What do I need to get on the course?
To be eligible for the Foundation Programme:
• You should have achieved good high school marks
• You should have an English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 5.5 if you wish to progress onto a degree in Actuarial Science, Business and Management, or Law, and IELTS 5.0 for other degree programmes
If you do not have access to IELTS, City University may administer its own language test, subject to certain conditions.
What will I study?
In the first semester you will take compulsory core modules in Academic Study and Research Skills, English Language and Communication, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics. You will also take a subject-specific elective module depending on your chosen degree programme: Economics for students who wish to progress onto a Business or Economics degree; Science, Technology and Applications for those wishing to progress onto a Computing or Engineering degree; and Law for those who wish to progress onto a Law degree.
In the second semester, you will continue with the first three core modules, and your first elective module. You will also start a second elective module relevant to your degree programme: Quantitative Methods for Business for Business and Economics students; Mathematics for Engineers.for Computing or Engineering students; and Sources of Law for Law students
Assessment is through a combination of coursework and exams.
What qualification will I get? You will get a transcript or record of achievement which will show your marks for each module you have taken
What can I do after the course? Successful completion of the Foundation Programme guarantees progression onto one of the following undergraduate programmes at City University: Actuarial Science, Business and Management, Economics, Engineering (excluding Civil Engineering), Informatics and Mathematics or Law.
