Course programme

Course Content:
The course introduces you to picture framing with a focus on planning, and cutting mounts to enhance your artwork. You are introduced to the key elements of a framed picture and learn the steps to creating a number of different mount designs. Whether you are an artist or photographer or simply want to learn to mount and frame your own art, this workshop offers a space where you can learn the techniques to enhance your work. You also learn to measure, mitre and assemble the moulding to make up the picture frame. You learn to cut glass and backing and to assemble the bundle to make a frame ready to hang.

By the end of the 3-day workshop you should understand the steps that you need to take to make a framed, mounted and glazed picture. Depending on your progress, you should be able to take home 2 or 3 complete framed pieces and a number of mounted pieces. The class is suitable for those who have never cut mounts or made a frame before and also to those who have had some experience and who would like to work on a few more frames.

Each day is a combination of practical hands-on sessions interspersed with short theory and demonstration sessions and allows you to work at your own pace. You will be encouraged to work with the others in the group and the general atmosphere is relaxed and fun.
