Who is this for?
Adults with some experience of the French language ( intermediate to advanced : equivalent of A level) and for people who want to improve their conversational skills.
What Will I Learn?
Extended understanding of grammar and vocabulary
Improved pronunciation through listening and speaking and systematic phonology exercises
Developed a greater knowledge of French culture, current affairs, cinema and songs
Explored and discussed extracts from a range of French films and song lyrics
Content of the Course
This course is suitable for adults with some experience of the French language and for people who wish to improve conversational skills. The disciplines of French phonology, grammar, vocabulary and language will be developed through the use of films (e.g. Jules et Jim, Belle de Jour, Jean de Florette, Amelie, La Vie en Rose, Madame Bovary, etc) and songs (Piaf, Trenet, Brel, Gainsbourg etc). Extracts of films with their transcripts will support learners progress and will be followed by discussions and the study of song will help students to improve their pronunciation and memorize vocabulary.
Equipment Needed
Folder, paper and pen.
Work needed to be Done outside of the Classroom
One hour or two per week would be advisable, as practice will help you learn faster. Extended practice can be planned for learners with more time.
Assessment Details
Continuous monitoring and feedback from the tutor. Optional presentation in front of the class and essays for students who wish to develop more their language skills
