Students will develop practical skills in: Using Graphics. Presentation. Desktop Publishing. Spreadsheets. Web Authoring. Programming Software. In Year 1 students will also learn about computer hardware, while in Year 2 they will study networking. The course allows students to complete three, six or 12 units, giving them one 'AS' Level, one 'A2' Level or two 'A2' Levels respectively.

Applied 'A' Level in Information Communication Technology

This course give students the opportunity to become highly proficient in the use of a wide variety of computer applications and skills, both software and hardware.
What will I study?
Students will develop practical skills in:
· Using Graphics
· Presentation
· Desktop Publishing
· Spreadsheets
· Web Authoring
· Programming Software
In Year 1 students will also learn about computer hardware, while in Year 2 they will study networking.

What next?
Upon successful completion students will be able to compete in the vastly expanding industry of Computing and Information Technology. They will also be prepared for further study either on a related Degree programme or Foundation Degrees such as Business Information Technology or Computer Systems and Networking (see page 130 for details). Selby College also runs a programme in Computing which includes web development and Oracle database development.
NB: An Information Communication Technology course is ideal for those wanting to become an expert at using computers, but for those wishing to actually program computers Computing may be a better option.
