Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade C or above preferably including English.

Course content
An introduction to working with children.
Development from conception to 16 years.
Supporting children.
Keeping children safe.
Promoting a healthy environment for children.
Play and learning in childrens education.
Development of professional skills within childrens education.
(There is also a range of optional units, chosen by your tutors).

How Will I Be Assessed?
During the two years you will work through 3 sections of the DCE, the Award, Certificate and then the Diploma. You will be continually assessed to pass each section through a range of assignment tasks. You will need to complete 750 hours of practical experience with a variety of age ranges. During the course there is one multiple choice paper and a short answer test. You will also complete an externally marked research task.

What Could I Do Next?
This qualification prepares you for work with children and their families in a variety of settings in the childrens care sector. It
is also a path into higher education.

Are There Any Special Expenses?
You will be required to travel to and from placement at your own expense and have a CRB check. You should purchase the
course textbook.
