Full Time City & Guilds 3901 Automotive Vehicle Maintenance "Change up" Foundation Programme

Course Description:
To provide the opportunity to pursue recognised entry level qualifications in Vehicle Maintenance, English and Maths. After an induction period students will work on College cars and engine rigs. During this time they will learn the skills necessary to work at an operative level in the motor trade.

Programme Content
There are approximately 13 hours of study per week with an emphasis on practical activities. Students will study Vehicle Technology and practical skills.The programme is mainly practical with students working on section vehicles. There are also taught classroom sessions for vehicle technology and basic skills.

Assessment and Progression:
Assessment is by the observed perfomance of a number of awarding body set practical tasks complimented by oral questioning. Progression could be onto Auto Technician Practical Programme Level 1 or an Apprenticeship programme.

Fees:
Students on a full-time course of 13 hours a week who are aged under 19 on 31 August are entitled to free tuition and no exam fees provided they are European Union Citizens. Students who are currently in Year 11 and will be aged over 16 on 31 August may be entitled to an Education Maintenance Allowance paying up to £30 per week.

Mature students who are in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to full or partial remission of fees. The regulations on student finance are detailed and subject to change.
