About this course

You will need to possess at least 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including English, or have successfully completed a Level 1 course with key skills. You will need to purchase a therapy uniform (slate grey tunic and tabard, trousers and specialist shoes approx £65). You will also need to purchase a small introductory kit of Aromatherapy oils.

Is the course for me?
You will be looking to enter the complementary/ holistic therapy industry with this new course. This full time qualification will provide you with an excellent opportunity to learn about the Complementary Therapy Industry and de-stressing holistic treatments suitable for use on private clients and stress busting in the work place. You will learn basic Swedish massage techniques and aromatherapy massage blending a small range of essential oils. You will learn basic reflexology to balance the bodies energy systems. You will learn anatomy and physiology, healthy eating and well being, customer service and personal development through skills for life. You will also learn about the benefits of complementary / holistic therapies.

What will I learn?
You will learn how to improve well being and help control the effects of stress through a range of holisitc treatments. You will learn how to assess clients, plan and provide holistic treatments in our modern academy salons. You will learn how treatments affect the whole person, through knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology. You will participate in work placement and community events to increase your knowledge of the industry. There are opportunites to attend holistic conferences and exhibitions. Recent students have had the opportunity to visit Montecatini Spa in Tuscany, with its world famous thermal baths, large parks and gorgeous gardens. You will have the opportunity to participate in events planned for the upcoming year.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assesed by written assignments for homework, practical assessment, assignments and end of unit tests oral questions and external exams. You will collect evidence of all your assessed course work in a portfolio for assessment and verification.

What can I do after the course?
Natural progression would be to move on to higher level study such as the full-time Holisitic / Complementary Therapy Diploma level 3, which includes Swedish full body massage, aromatherapy massage and other advanced treatment methods using a full range of aromatherapy oils and advanced reflexology treatments. Or you might wish to study further on the part-time evening Holistic courses e.g.Aromatherapy Diploma level 3, Indian Head Massage Diploma Level 3, or Reflexology Diploma Level 3.
