Is this course for you
This course is for students who need to gain a formal qualification to allow them to join a Level 2 or apprenticeship course. The course covers a multi-trade programme giving basic skills and knowledge in brickwork, carpentry, plumbing and electrical installation. This course will give you the opportunity to decide which trade you would prefer to specialise in.

What will you study
This course will develop introductory skills and understanding in brickwork, carpentry, plumbing and electrical installation trades. You will also study: Health and Safety * Handling and Using Materials * Working Relationships. In addition you will be required to study functional skills in: Improving your own Learning * Application of Number * Communications * Information Technology.

How will you be assessed
You will have to complete an assignment, a practical test and a unit test at the end of each unit. These will build your portfolio which together with a final City & Guilds examination will gain you your qualification.

What can you do after course
On successful completion of this course you can join one of our Level 2 construction courses in plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying or electrical installation, undertake an apprenticeship or gain employment within the building trade.

Additional information
You will be working in practical workshops so you will need to equip yourself with protective footwear and overalls before you start the course.
