On this course you will learn about:
- Choosing, preparing and presenting food
- Safety, hygiene and security in the workplace
- Effective teamwork
- Food storage
- Preparing and cooking vegetables, meat, poultry and dough products
Facilities for students:
Our Catering department has excellent facilities, including professional kitchens with modern facilities The Gallery our very own restaurant.
Tutors:
Our lecturers are very experienced teachers who have many years of industry experience, including Restaurant Managers & Head Chefs.
Nicola Dabbs has been teaching this programme for 4 years with excellent results and achievements.
Assessment: All formal assessment of practical skills and underpinning knowledge for this programme will be College based, which will take place throughout the course.

Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course, you may wish to progress onto tour supported VRQ Level 1 Hospitality and Catering qualification.
Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment as a basic food operative in one of the many sectors within the industry, for example, restaurants, hotels, contract catering, industrial and airline catering.
