Course content:
This is a one year introductory course for students who would like a career in health and social care.
The course is made up of three core units and a further five units, including: Starting work in Health & Social Care, Working in Health & Social Care, Developing Skills in Health & Social Care, Personal Effectiveness and Social Responsibility at work, Looking after Children, Health and the Environment, and Exploring local services. The course includes three key skills and one or two days work experience per week.
Course resources:
Childcare base room and basic classrooms. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.
Assessment:
Assessment will be in the form of written essays, case studies, projects, observations and practical work experience. There will be one core externally assessed assignment and 7 internally assessed assignemnets. External tests for key skills.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
