WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This course is for you if you are an adult with learning difficulties and you would like to develop the skills needed to live more independently. The programme is particulary suitable for young adults, people with autistic spectrum disorders and/or mental health issues in addition to learning difficulties.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
During your studies you will focus on developing your confidence, social skills, money and time management skills, road safety and travel skills.
You will also focus on attaining the practical skills required to enable you to develop the following "life skills":
Community skills/World of Work
Home Management Skills
Personal Development
Information Technology
Health and Wellbeing
Horticulture
Practical skills
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will be expected to attend college for 16 hours a week over 36 weeks of the academic year. The ususal hours of college study are between 9.30am and 3.00pm.
This is a course that requires all applicants to be interviewed prior to acceptance. Interviews are usually arranged within 30 working days of receipt of your application.
WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
This is a foundation learning tier programme of study and you can work towards a recognised accreditation or a college certificate.
