You are expected to attend college on Thursday 9am - 5pm and Friday 9am - 4pm

Course Description
You will find this course gives you an insight into the floristry skills required to gain employment within the floristry industry. This course is designed for School Leavers or adults looking for a change of career. The course is delivered by practical activity and you will get the opportunity to gain work experience in The Hub Floristry Outlet, and work towards gaining your NVQ1 Customer Care qualification.

Course Structure
You will have to complete seven units and a multi-choice test paper to gain the full qualification. The units cover, Care and Conditioning, Display work / Basic wiring and presentation work.

You will also study Key Skills which include Maths and English.

Course Assessment
You will be assessed by continual practical assessment and some course work. You will have to complete a multi-choice test paper at the end of your qualification.

  • 2 GCSEs grades G and above

  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview
  • You must commit to 100% attendance.


Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips to the Society of Floristry Show and Holland will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.

Course Progression
You may progress onto City and Guilds Level 2 National Certificate or NVQ 2 in Floristry

Course Career Prospects

  • This qualification will provide employment opportunities as a Junior / trainee florist or within a garden centres or large retail outlets working with flowers and pot plants
