Who the Course is For:
The BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts is a demanding full-time vocational course designed primarily for learners with a passion for practical performance work. The course is designed to give learners a strong foundation in drama, dance, singing and Technical Theatre, as well as a sound understanding of the theories and practices underpinning the performing arts
Assessment:
Assessment is based on a mixture of practical and performance assignments. Written assignments take the form of performers logs and portfolios. All work will be marked by college tutors with some key assessent points marked externally.
Course Leads To:
On successful completion of the course, learners may be eligible for progression to a BTEC National Diploma Course in Performing Arts. For those who do not wish to progress to further study, the BTEC First Diploma is recognised as a worthwhile qualification in its own right

Learners attend regular practical classes in drama, dance, and singing. In addition, they learn the basics of technical theatre and are introduced to aspects of the history of theatre making. This course uses an exciting practical approach to studying and includes performance work in the Broadway Theatre. In other words, learners work alongside industry professionals to create work viewed by the general public in an industrial setting.
Learners have the opportunity to hone their basic skills and progress to a National Dimploma course or enter into employment.
