Progression Diploma Level 1 This course is a personalised learning programme designed to give you the skills necessary to progress to either further learning or employment. It will be tailored to your individual needs and focus on your personal, social and academic development but will also give you an opportunity to explore work and study in at least 6 vocational areas.

What will I study?
The course covers a wide range of units including:
  • Community and citizenship
  • Lifestyle factors
  • Personal effectiveness
  • Practical sport and teamwork skills
  • Performance and assertiveness
  • Art, Design and Media
  • Public services, health and science
  • Preparation for work
  • Learning to learn
  • Numeracy, English and ICT

Thre will also be visits, trips and practical activities, which will allow you to make informed decisions about future careers.

How will I be assessed?
Each unit will be assessed in a variety of ways such as assignments, practical observations, logs and diaries and verbal presentations. You will need to present a portfolio of evidence for each unit.

You will carry out independent study and research to complete a number of set tasks related to the units and complete many of the tasks in your own time as well as showing your skills within your sessions. Assessment may also include supervised or controlled observations or exams during session time. The functional skills will be assessed through an exam and portfolio.

What can I do next?
Successful completion (Pass) of the course may lead to range of other qualifications at Level 2 including Sports, PSO, Art and Design, Media, Health or Science. Alternatively employment or a modern apprenticeship within associated areas may be your choice. Progression routes into other courses and qualifications at other centres will also be avaialble to you.

Entry Requirements:
A willingness to improve your ability to learn and apply skills to employment and life are essential. An interest in a variety of subject areas such as sport, creative arts, media, performance, public services, health and science are needed. A 'give it a go' attitude is also required. You should have GCSE grades Es and Fs. If you did not take your examinations for some reason, we will ask you to take a diagnostic assessment in Maths and English to make sure that this is the right level for you.
