Course programme

Course review:

We offer a professional and up to date training to BACP's latest standards, using an integrative model. The team previously delivered the Diploma at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) until it was discontinued due to changes in government funding. SHU has been supportive in this venture.

Our ethos puts the therapeutic relationship at the centre and we aim to develop students who have the ability to adapt to the needs and characteristics of the individual client and to work ethically. This ethos is reflected in how we aim to relate to our students.

The course equips you to enter the profession. We have good relationships with placement providers and our students have gone on to find jobs in the health, education and voluntary sectors and many have successfully entered private practice. Many go on to pursue specialist training either for work with a particular client group or in a particular theoretical orientation. See some student profiles on our website.

Entering the counselling profession can seem confusing. Our website gives quite a lot of information, and we recommend you familiarise yourself with the bacp website, but we welcome you to visit to look around and chat about your particular circumstances and how best you should proceed to achieve your aims - even if that means you go somewhere else to train because it is important that you take the right path for you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch and ask questions.
