Qualification: GCE Double Award EDEXCEL 8/9712

Duration: 2 years
This is the ideal course for students intending to progress to an Art College. This is a unit based qualification and assignments are completed through integrated projects. Students learn about two and three dimensional materials, techniques and technology. They will become skilled in a range of areas including painting, printmaking, surface design and imaging. In the second year students may choose to focus on specialist units. Students have a specialist course tutor who will assist with progress and progression. Students will usually add one A Level Art subject together with a Portfolio Course in Life Drawing or Photography. The course has a vocational focus that allows students to progress to further study in art and design. Most progress to Degree courses in Art related subjects, usually via an Art Foundation course.

Qualification explained
A-Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) qualification. In the second year, you can take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to gain a full A Level. (In some subjects, the courses are divided into 3 rather than 2 units at AS and A2.)
