The approach of the course is primarily conversational, although all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are developed and practised. A variety of topics, authentic materials and interactive activities are used to expand and enrich students' vocabulary, grammar and cultural.

Your Course
This course is suitable for those who have already studied German for about a year and a half. The approach of the course is primarily conversational, although all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are developed and practised. A variety of topics, authentic materials and interactive activities are used to expand and enrich students' vocabulary, grammar and cultural knowledge.
During this course, students will take a short internal assessment in speaking German at Preliminary level. This will help to prepare them for the OCR Asset language test that will be taken at the end of the Improvers year, (summer 2010). The course book is "Deutsch Plus 1", units 4+ - 10+.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the 10 week course you will have had the opportunity to:
· Learn what to say on the phone and talk about your work
· Talk about holidays and make enquiries as a tourist
· Shop for clothes and presents
· Learn to talk about money and different means of payments
· Talk about your family
· Talk about your background
· Book a hotel room
· Learn about various cultural aspects of the German speaking world, especially food and drink
· Study various points of grammar including word order, comparatives and superlatives, the various tenses, adjectival endings and separable verbs
Your Tutor
Susanne Eckermann is a native German speaker. She studied German, French and English literature and linguistics to Masters level in England, France and Germany (Rostock). She completed a Post- Masters level PGCE in Leipzig. She has taught and examined at A-level and beyond, in higher education, and has gained ten years of teaching experience. Susanne is specialised in teaching foreign languages for business and has been an examiner for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for several years.

Tuition fees: £ 95
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
Half term:
Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
