Course programme

Course aim::
The NVQ will enable those working in the Health & Social Care Sector to become occupationally qualified and
comply with the mandatory requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000.

Course outline:
A National Vocational Qualification is awarded for competent performance in work-based activities. Competence is proved by completing a range of practical tasks and skills and displaying underpinning technical knowledge.

Delivery: The NVQ is assessed by observation in the workplace and testimony of the learner’s practice, supported by questioning of knowledge to provide evidence of competence.

Accreditation: City & Guilds 3172-21

Level: Level 2

Usual Duration: 4 -7 months

Progression: Health and Social NVQ level 3 or Advanced Apprenticeship

Additional information

Support: If the learner is eligible for Train to Gain the NVQ is fully funded. Otherwise there may be significant subsidy from the Workforce development group of the County Council.
