2. Course description In year one you study the following modules: • developing business skills  • business finance • hotels, resorts and restaurant operations • managing the service encounter • entrepreneurship • personal and professional development (including placement) In year two you'll study: • legal environment  • hospitality management • managing research and information  • human resource management  • management techniques   A five-month industrial placement period during the course gives you first-hand experience of working in the industry. Our students visit a wide range of establishments throughout the world, or arrange their own placements closer to home. There are opportunities to attend study tours abroad – most recently to Disneyland Paris – as well as an annual calendar of local and national visits designed to enhance your studies. In recent years our students have had the opportunity to talk to Jamie Oliver, Marco Pierre White and Sat Bains who have all visited the college and spent time sharing their experiences of hospitality management with our students.

Entry requirements You will need between 120 and 240 UCAS points from: • at least two A Levels at ‘A2' • a BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma • International Baccalaureate Applications from students with a relevant NVQ Level 3 are welcome. Industry experience is an advantage. Mature students with relevant experience and/or qualifications, including an Access to HE Diploma within a relevant area, are welcome to apply. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Each module is internally assessed through individual or group assignments, which can be practical, making use of local industry contacts.  Assignments are industry-focused to develop the relevant skills of managing tasks and solving problems. Examinations take place in the second year.
