Description

This course seeks to provide you with the industry know-how to develop your career in hospitality with a specific focus on event hospitality. You will develop key hospitality management skills, coupled with a complementary awareness of events provision and management. You will get a broad overview of the hospitality industry and look in detail at how different venues manage operations and stage events.

Birmingham hosts a vibrant hospitality and events industry and is home to the NEC, ICC and Arena Birmingham, which host an array of events, festivals and concerts. With our network of contacts in the local area, across the UK and overseas, our work placement team will assist you in securing a placement that matches your career aspirations.

This strongly vocational course will give you the knowledge and skills necessary for a range of management careers within the international hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is increasingly focused on international visitors and is looking for ways to partner with the events industry so you will gain valuable work experience during a 12-month paid placement at a carefully chosen hospitality and events destination.

Throughout the course we will encourage you to add to your skills by specialising in subjects such as Cross-cultural and Global Management in Hospitality, Managing Adventure Events or Events Planning. Specialist technical modules will enable you to take advantage of UCB’s unparalleled hospitality restaurant facilities and supported work placement network.

To take into account

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to move into a wide variety of areas within the industry, including working in the catering, conference and restaurant sectors. Graduates have also gone on to start their own events, catering or hospitality business. Graduating with this degree will enable you to pursue a career path in: Hotel management Business centre management Conference and exhibition venues Specialist event organisation Accommodation management

Hospitality with Events Management BA (Hons) A Level: An A level grade profile of CCC BTEC: A BTEC grade profile of MMM, this can be achieved from either an Extended Diploma or a combination of smaller BTEC qualifications. Tariff: Other Level 3 qualifications are accepted at UCB for entrance, a minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff points will be required. Access to Higher Education Diploma: 96 UCAS Tariff points including a minimum of 15 Level 3 credits at Distinction.

Compulsory paid placement - You will undertake a 12-month paid placement to experience the industry first-hand, discovering in detail how different venues manage operations and stage events and gaining valuable work experience. You will not incur tuition fees during the 12-month placement Industry approved centre - The Institute of Hospitality accredits the course Specialise your studies - Tailor your studies to develop a specialism relevant to your chosen career through optional modules, such as Stadium and Arena Management, Festivals and Events Tourism and Sustainability in Hospitality, Tourism and Events
