Entry requirements:
One of the following:
  • A Foundation Diploma/Higher Diploma in ICT
  • A BTEC First in a related subject
  • At least five GCSEs at grade A*-C, including English Language

Course assessment:
All units are internally assessed other than 'Making Projects Successful'.

The Diploma in Information Technology is built around three core themes:
  • Business - how organisations work and the role technology can play
  • People - how to work well with other people
  • Technology - how to create technology solutions


What will I learn?
Students will study the following units:
  • The Potential of Technology - how technology has affected society, organisations and individuals, with particular attention to the use of the internet and mobile communications
  • Understanding Organisations - different types of businesses and sectors and the professions within them Professional Development - skills needed to operate effectively in a business environment
  • Creating Technology Solutions - understanding of design principles, data analysis and programming basics
  • Managing Technology Solutions - configure and manage a small scale technology system for business use
  • Multimedia and Digital Projects - evaluate different multimedia projects and create your own
  • Making Projects Successful - gain some of the skills needed to become an effective Project Manager
